Use the calculator in your AI assistant
Connect the RPV Calculator to Claude, ChatGPT, Mistral Vibe or another AI assistant through MCP, so it calculates procedural indemnities with the same indexed amounts as this website.
What the connector does
AI assistants are good at reading a case file but unreliable with legal tariffs: they may quote outdated amounts or miss an indexation. The connector gives your assistant direct access to this calculator, so when you ask about a procedural indemnity, it calls the calculator and answers with the exact amounts.
It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI assistants use to connect to outside tools. Claude, ChatGPT, Mistral Vibe and many developer tools support it. The calculator offers three tools: one calculates the indemnity for a claim, one returns the full indexed rate table, and one reports the current CPI indexation.
- Same calculation and the same Statbel CPI data as this website, so results match what you see here.
- Read-only: the tools only calculate and look up figures. They cannot change anything or see your other data.
- Free, without an account or sign-in.
- Ask in Dutch, French, German or English. Every answer includes a link that opens the same calculation on this website.
Connector URL
https://www.rpv-calculator.be/mcpThis is all you need: the calculator has no sign-in. Copy it, then follow the steps for your assistant below.
Add it to your assistant
Menu names are given in quotes as they appear in each app’s English interface. They can differ slightly in another language or a newer version.
Claude
On claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app. It takes about a minute.
- In the sidebar, under “Customize”, click “Connectors”.
- Click “+ Add” and choose “Add custom connector”.
- Under “Name”, type RPV Calculator. Under “MCP server URL”, paste the connector URL above. Click “Continue”.
- Under “Authentication”, “No sign-in” is already selected and marked “Detected”: keep it. Leave “Request headers” empty, because the calculator needs no API key. Click “Add”.
- Claude opens the connector with its “Tool permissions”. Next to “Read-only tools”, open the “Needs approval” menu and choose to always allow (the check mark). We recommend this: the three tools only calculate and look up figures, so Claude no longer has to ask before every calculation.
- Open a new chat, click “+” at the bottom left, hover over “Connectors” and check that the connector is switched on.
- Ask your question, for example one of the examples further down.
- On the Free plan you can add one custom connector.
- On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner first adds the connector under “Organization settings” → “Connectors” → “Add” → “Custom” → “Web”. Members then find it under “Customize” → “Connectors” and click “Connect”.
- Once added on the web or in the desktop app, the connector also works in the Claude apps for iOS and Android.
ChatGPT
On chatgpt.com, in the browser. ChatGPT is renaming this feature at the moment, so the labels on your screen may differ slightly.
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
- Click “+” and choose the option to add a custom MCP server. Depending on your account it reads “Add custom MCP server” or “Create MCP App”.
- Enter RPV Calculator as the name and paste the connector URL above as the “Server URL”. For authentication, choose “No authentication”.
- Tick “I understand and want to continue” and click “Create as a plugin”.
- In a chat, type @, choose RPV Calculator and ask your question.
- Custom MCP servers are not available on every ChatGPT plan. If you don’t see the option, look for “Developer mode” in your settings. On Business and Enterprise accounts, an admin has to allow it first.
Mistral Vibe
On chat.mistral.ai. Available on all plans, including Free.
- In the sidebar, go to “Work” → “Context” → “Connectors” and click “+ Add Connector”.
- Switch to the “Custom MCP Connector” tab.
- As “Connector name”, type rpv-calculator (no spaces). Paste the connector URL above as the “Server URL”.
- Click “Connect”, then ask your question in a chat.
- In a team account only an administrator can add connectors. On a personal account, that is you.
Developer tools
In coding assistants, add the server with one command or a few lines of configuration.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http rpv-calculator https://www.rpv-calculator.be/mcp
Cursor (in .cursor/mcp.json or ~/.cursor/mcp.json)
{
"mcpServers": {
"rpv-calculator": {
"url": "https://www.rpv-calculator.be/mcp"
}
}
}
VS Code with GitHub Copilot (in .vscode/mcp.json)
{

"rpv-calculator": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://www.rpv-calculator.be/mcp"

Gemini CLI
gemini mcp add --transport http rpv-calculator https://www.rpv-calculator.be/mcp
Codex CLI
codex mcp add rpv-calculator --url https://www.rpv-calculator.be/mcpNot supported yet
The Gemini app only accepts custom connectors for personal accounts in the United States for now, and the Microsoft Copilot app does not support custom connectors. As soon as that changes, the same connector URL should work there too.
The tools
You never call these yourself: your assistant picks the right tool and fills in the inputs from your question. The names below are what you will see when it uses one.
calculate_rpv
Calculates the procedural indemnity for one claim: the minimum, base and maximum amount in euros, indexed for the date that matters.
Inputs
- court_type
- “general” (all courts and tribunals), “voorzitter” (President of the Labour Court), “arbeidsrechtbank” (Labour Court) or “arbeidshof” (Labour Court of Appeal). The last three apply to proceedings under arts. 579 and 1017(2) Judicial Code.
- amount
- The amount in dispute in euros, as a number or written the Belgian way, such as “2.500,50”. Left out for a claim that cannot be valued in money.
- no_monetary_value
- Whether (part of) the claim cannot be valued in money. With an amount as well, both possible outcomes are returned, because which one applies depends on the case.
- date
- Optional reference date, usually the date of the judgment. The calculation uses the indexation in force on that date. Defaults to today.
- locale
- Language of the link back to this website (nl, fr, de or en). Defaults to Dutch.
Returns
Minimum, base and maximum amount, the bracket that applies, the indexation multiplier, the reference date, a link that opens the same calculation on this website, and a reminder that the judge decides. It also explains how the amount was reached (bracket, unindexed amounts, indexation factor), why the judge decides (Article 1022 Judicial Code) and, for a partly non-monetary claim, how the two tariffs compare.
get_rate_table
Returns every bracket of the rate table for one court type, indexed for a date. Useful for comparing brackets or checking a whole table.
- date
- Optional reference date. Defaults to today.
Returns
For each bracket: the amount range it covers and its minimum, base and maximum, plus the indexation multiplier used.
get_indexation_status
Reports the indexation in force today and how close the next one is.
Inputs
None.
Returns
The current multiplier and since when it applies, the latest Belgian consumer price index (base 2004) and its month, the threshold for the next indexation, how far along the index is, an estimated month for the next indexation and the full indexation history.
Example questions
Ask the way you would ask a colleague. For example:
- “What is the procedural indemnity for a €45,000 claim before the Labour Court of Appeal?”
- “My client claims €12,500 and the judgment was given on 15 March 2023. What could the other side have to pay in procedural indemnity?”
- “Show me the indexed rate table for the Labour Court.”
- “When is the next indexation of the procedural indemnities expected?”
Usage limits
Free to use, up to 20 calculations per minute and 300 per day.
- Only actual calculations count. Connecting and listing the tools are free.
- The limit applies per network address. Assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT reach the calculator through their own servers, so in busy periods the shared limit can occasionally be reached.
- When a limit is reached, your assistant is told when it can try again and can pass that on to you.
Privacy
The calculator only receives what your assistant sends to the tools: the court type, the amount and the date. It never sees your conversation. Amounts are not stored; usage statistics only record them as broad ranges, and callers are identified by a one-way hash, never by IP address.
Read the privacy policyGood to know
The amounts are indicative and follow the Royal Decree of 26 October 2007 (art. 1022 Judicial Code), indexed to the consumer price index. The judge sets the final indemnity between the minimum and maximum. Your assistant is told to mention this, but always check the result before relying on it. This is not legal advice.
